Regular Town Board Meeting

April 14, 2025

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on April 14, 2025 at 7:00 pm. The supervisors present 

were Matt Borofka and Kale Clements. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the April 14, 2025 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on April 10, 2025.Public Comment: none

Public Comment: none

Discussion and possible action to accept bid for 2025 Road project – Darrel Fehr made a motion to accept Senn Blacktops bid of $237,362.42 plus the base coarse bid of $4064.82. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: B-074 WTA dues budgeted $1000 and spent $1038.02 –Darrel Fehr made a motion to move $50 from Contingency fund to B-074.  Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0

Approval of the March 10, 2025 Board meeting minutes & March 24 Road bid minutes – Matt Borofka made a motion to approve minutes for March 10, 2025 board meeting & March 24 Road bid minutes.  Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

Reading by Treasurer of March financial report: Ending balance on March 31, 2025 of $173,167.60 and total cash 

on hand $268,540.82. Security Bank loan balance as of March 31, 2025 is $85,105.93

 

Reading and Approval of the March bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #6340 - 6364 for payment of the March bills. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0. 

 

Building/driveway permits: Tom Yakesh remodel

Discussion and possible action pertaining to plan commission- Board approval of John Sykora IV and Damian Prince for 3 year termDarrel Fehr made a motion to appoint John Sykora IV and Damian Prince to Plan commission for another 3 year term, Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0

Discussion and possible action on appointing Vicki Freeberg as Deputy Clerk: Darrel Fehr made a motion to appoint Vicki Freeberg as Deputy Clerk. Kale Clements seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0

 

Chairman’s report: just a control burn in township, Board will be thinking about a time/date for road review 

Recycling report by Rod Thorson –  no report

 

Dissemination of Information, Clerks report: Excellent turnout for Spring election (62% voted), thanks to Beth Pagel for returning all election material on Wednesday, will receive $6137.52 this month for Lottery credit, congratulations to Erica Ullom for being nominated as new Clerk and to all the Board members and Jan Thorson for being reelected! Town hall will be rented on the 19th and 27th of April, will be sending liquor license renewals for Bloomer Rod & Gun this month, Senn returned $1875 overcharged for 2024 road project, GFL returned check for overcharge in 2022, WTA meeting April 22 Town of Arthur, road bans lifted today in Chippewa county, Bloomer joint meeting of townships on April 28, 2025 at 5:30 pm.

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of April 14, 2025 regular meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, April bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission, discussion on ordering Base 1 from Team Labs for upcoming road project

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – May 12, 2025 at 7:00 pm

 

Adjourn:  Matt Borofka made a motion to adjourn at 7:24 pm. Kale Clements seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
