Regular Town Board Meeting

April 8, 2024

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on April 8, 2024 at 7:00 pm. The supervisors present 

were Matt Borofka and Kale Clements. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the April 8, 2024 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on April 4, 2024.

 

Public Comment: Beth Pagel shared comments from residents during the April Election in regards to new Town hall. Some opinions shared on plans to have a sign put in for the Cooks Valley Town Hall.

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: None

Approval of the March 11, 2024 and April 1 board meeting minutes  – Matt Borofka made a motion to approve minutes for March 11 and April 1 Town board meeting minutes.  Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

Reading by Treasurer of March financial report: Ending balance on March 31, 2024 of $187,672.09 and total cash on 

hand $282,602.93. Security Bank loan balance as of March 13, 2024 $106,397.87

 

Reading and Approval of the March bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #6064 - 6089 for payment of the March bills. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: None

Discussion and possible action to appoint Ryan LaGesse to Plan Commission: Darrel Fehr made a motion to appoint Ryan LaGesse to Planning Commission for 3 year term. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0

 

Discussion and possible action to purchase Base 1 aggregate stabilizer for Road project:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to purchase 375 gallons of base 1 aggregate from Team Labs at an approximate cost of $10,000. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Chairman’s report: no fires, EMS went to Donnie Rihn accident, road inspection completed and Rod Thorson prepared a road report for Town board members to plan for future road projects.

 

Recycling report by Rod Thorson – averaging 70 residents per month with garbage/recycling, metal dumpster is about 2/3 full 

 

Dissemination of Information: Election went very well and thanks to poll workers we did not have any ballots cast incorrect, with a 38% voter turnout! Clerk will attend Form CT training in Eau Claire on Friday April 12 from 8:30 to 3:00 at cost of $45, renewal to Intuit QB fee increase to $684.70 year, rented town hall April 6, 2024 and on April 23 at 7pm Town of Tilden WTA meeting, thank you & cookies brought to the poll workers from Haycreek Ramblers                

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of April 8, 2024 regular meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, April bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission, April 16, 2024 Annual meeting at 7pm

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – May 13, 2024 at 7:00 pm 

 

Adjourn:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to adjourn at 7:21 pm. Kale Clements seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
