Regular Town Board Meeting

August 12, 2024

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on August 12, 2024 at 7:00 pm. The supervisor present 

was Kale Clements. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the August 12, 2024 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on August 9, 2024.

 

Public Comment: None

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: None

Approval of the July 8, 2024 board meeting minutes  – Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve minutes for July 8 board meeting minutes.  Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

Reading by Treasurer of July financial report: Ending balance on July 31, 2024 of $210,143.39 and total cash on hand $305,520.85. Security Bank loan balance as of July 13, 2024 $101,169.42 

As part of the road agreement with Frontier Sands:

Jan Thorson (treasurer) will deduct half cost of chip/crack seal for on 186th Ave from the Frontier Sands account in the 

amount of $894 (total was $1788) paid to Superior Sealers.

 

Reading and Approval of the July bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #6141 - 6167 for payment of the July bills. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: Kale Clements for building a new shed

Discussion and possible action on variance for Luke Borofka: Darrel Fehr made a motion to accept Plan commission recommendation on approving Luke Borofka variance to build shed 15 feet from adjoining property. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

 

Discussion and possible approval of operator permit for Melissa Johnson – Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve operator permit for Melissa Johnson to serve at picnic for St John Catholic Church on September 8, 2024. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

Chairman’s report: no fires in Township, Tom Yakesh will do some patching on several roads, road work will be started next Thursday to start pulverizing on 148th Ave and 70th Street.

 

Recycling report by Rod Thorson – Rod gave the work schedule for July, August & September. Surgery postponed until November. Discussion on changing hours on Tuesday from 4-8pm to 4-7pm. Saturday will remain the same 4 hours. Expenses are higher than income for the first 8 months of this year. Large metal scrap dumpster was picked up by Northern Metal so township will be receiving a check.

 

Dissemination of Information, Clerks report: Town hall rental November 2nd Degidio, no bill for ambulance this year (profit in 2023) discussion at September Joint area meeting on how to apply credit, Partisan Primary is August 13, need to send estimate for recycling grant for 2025, thanks to Darrel Fehr for upgrading electric box.          

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of August 12, 2024 regular meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, August bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission, discussion on Chippewa County Unit meeting for Emergency Management plan

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – September 9, 2024 at 7:00 pm 

 

Adjourn:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to adjourn at 7:25 pm. Kale Clements seconded the motion. Motion carried 2-0.
