Regular Town Board Meeting

August 14, 2023

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on August 14, 2023 at 7:00 pm. The supervisors present 

were Matt Borofka and Kale Clements. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the August 14, 2023 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on August 10, 2023.

 

Public Comment: None

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: None

Open bids for 4 culverts and approval by Board -

Chippewa Valley Excavating: Total $13,275

Dave Michels Grading: Total $18,035

Stolt Excavating: Total $14,645

Darrel Fehr made a motion to accept Chippewa Valley Excavating bid for $13,275 to replace 4 culverts on 70th St, 1010 St and 148th Ave. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. Motion carrried 3-0

Approval of the July 10, 2023 Town Board meeting minutes – Matt Borofka made a motion to approve minutes for July 10 Town board meeting. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

Reading by Treasurer of July financial report: Ending balance on July 31, 2023 of $77,392.02 and total cash on hand $171,435.94

Reading and Approval of the July bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #5895 - 5911 for payment of the July bills. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: Randy Soltau for new shed

Discussion and possible action relating to the plan commission: Did not meet

Chairman’s report: – Fire Dept./Roads: Rosenbrook farm shed burned in June, another fire but not sure of resident, chip seal on 135th Ave. by Scott Construction is scheduled for next week, getting another $45,000 from State Funds according to Rob Sommerfield, State Representative.

 

Recycling report by Rod Thorson – detailed report on income and expense at recycling center, questions by residents as to when we will relocate to new town hall and no definite time frame has been decided by Board.

 

Dissemination of Information- clerk’s report:  GFL requesting copy of garbage contract, population estimate for 2023 is 759, State requested a W-9 filed by township, County requesting information for 2024 recycling grant, Shared revenue for July $5967.04, Republican party is requesting open records on 2019-2021 and 2021-2023 election workers (contact information, hours worked and party affiliation)                                                                                                                   

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of August 14, 2023 regular meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, August bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – September 11, 2023 at 7:00 pm

 

Adjourn:  Matt Borofka made a motion to adjourn at 7:23 pm. Kale Clements seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
