REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING

MONDAY August 11th, 2025

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on August 11th, 2025 at 7:00 pm. The supervisors present 

was Kale Clements and Matt Borofka. Other officers present: Erica Ullom-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the August 11th, 2025 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on August 6th, 2025.

 

Public Comment: no public comment 

Discussion and possible action on budget categories- none brought forward 

 

Approval of the July 14th 2025 board meeting minutes and July 15th 2025 special meeting for bill approval-Matt Borofka approved, seconded by Kale Clements motion carried 3-0.  

 

Reading by Treasurer of July financial report-Ending balance on July 31st, 2025 of $212,417.63 and total cash on hand $308,241.27. Security Bank loan balance as of July 30th, 2025 is $77,862.27

 

Reading and approval of the July bills-checks 6432 to 6447 with check 6438 being VOID-Matt Borofka approved, seconded by Kale Clements motion carried 3-0. 

 

Building/driveway permits-none

Discussion and possible action pertaining to plan commission-did not meet

 

Discussion and possible action on a sign for the town hall-Lynette Leavens submitted artwork for a possible new sign, discussion of placement, sign will be be aluminum with vinyl decals.  Darrel will be in contact with Lynette on the choice of the sign so a bid can be submitted.     

 

Discussion and possible action on switching town emails to .gov email-estimates from Krista Computer for $106/hour we will also be submitting and receiving a bid from Sprinter.  Wes Reichardt will also take a look and see about a bid with him too. 

 

Discussion and possible action on updating & future road work-Darrel Fehr would like to apply, possibly: for a grant for 186th Street culvert(s) & chip repair; however the last time was a hard process.  Next year we are planning to replace culverts on 70th Street, 2028 on 10th Street and 2029 on 186th Street.  Darrel Fehr made a motion to replace culverts on 186th and do some fill and chip repair work, seconded by Matt Borofka motion carried 3-0.   

 

Chairman’s report-fire report-Mine Roads-sand company is working at LaGesse’s again patching and the growth is better on the landscaping.  There was a CO2 alarm on 40th Street.  

 

Recycling report by Rod Thorson-Rod gave an updated report and stated wrokers continue to be willing to fill shifts, dumpsters are at about 90% as well as recycling, got a new box for demo, could use some mowing a weed wacking.       

 

Dissemination of Information- clerk’s report-election training is coming up in October, the town hall was rented out once in July for a family reunion.

Future items and business-next meeting date is Monday September 8th at 7pm, discussion of .gov email and townhall sign.
