Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on December 9, 2024 at 7:05 pm. The supervisors present
were Matt Borofka and Kale Clements. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the December 9, 2024 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on December 5, 2024.
Public Comment: Everyone was glad to have Matt back in attendance after his accident.
Discussion and possible action on budget categories: W-52 Highway Maintenance budgeted $208,364.34 spent $249,673.99 which was 41,309.65 over budget. Darrel Fehr made a motion to move $7290 remaining in Contingency Fund, plus $26,490 remaining in Snowplowing, plus $7615 remaining in Fire Protection at a total of $41,395 to cover the extra road maintenance costs. Kale Clements seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
Approval of the November 11, 2024 Board meeting minutes and November 11 Special meeting minutes – Matt Borofka made a motion to approve minutes for November 11, 2024 board meeting and November 11 Special meeting. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.
Reading by Treasurer of November financial report: Ending balance on November 30, 2024 of $263,513.80 and total cash
on hand $358,447.05. Security Bank loan balance as of November 30, 2024 is $92,309.51
Reading and Approval of the November bills: Matt Borofka made a motion to approve check vouchers #6241 - 6260 for payment of the November bills. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.
Building/driveway permits: driveway permit for Jay Zwiefelhofer
Discussion and possible action pertaining to plan commission- did not meet
Discussion and possible action on increasing salary for Board, Treasurer & Clerk: Could not take action on this until special meeting of the town electors so they could propose raise.
Discussion and possible action on Town of Cooks Valley Schedule of Fees and Forfeitures and adjustment of recycling worker wages for 2025: Darrel Fehr made a motion to increase wage for recycling to $50 a session and keep all fees the same for 2025 on recycling. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.
Chairman’s report: fire at Dave Michels residence (equipment shed burned), roads in good shape with no snow plowing yet, Tom Yakesh patched some roads, LaGesse mine reworked and looking better, Buchner mine still no change
Recycling report by Rod Thorson – Rod gave an update on final end of year expense/income and fees do not need to be changed for 2025. Tom Yakesh, Dave Clements, Jim Kettner will continue to cover shifts for Rod until he is able to return to work.
Dissemination of Information, Clerks report: Equipment audit for November 5th election went good, everything checked out OK, only count that was off by 1 vote was District Attorney, town hall rented for December 14th Christmas party by Scott Zwiefelhofer, Chippewa county clerk will be doing election training for upcoming year in January and February so will get poll workers scheduled to attend. Chairman, Supervisors, Treasurer received nomination papers to get filled out and back to Clerk by January 7, 2025 at the latest.
Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories, minutes of December 9, 2024 regular meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, December bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission
The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – January 13, 2025 at 7:00 pm
