Regular Town Board Meeting

June 10, 2024

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on June 10, 2024 at 7:00 pm. The supervisors present 

were Matt Borofka and Kale Clements. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the June 10, 2024 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on June 6, 2024.

 

Public Comment: Resident Jim Lueck inquired about the date for ditch mowing and chairman Darrel Fehr responded that they it would be done soon.

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: None

Approval of the May 13, 2024 board meeting minutes  – Matt Borofka made a motion to approve minutes for May 13 board meeting minutes.  Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

Reading by Treasurer of May financial report: Ending balance on May 31, 2024 of $195,171.26 and total cash on hand $290,332.46. Security Bank loan balance as of May 14, 2024 $104,627.35

 

Reading and Approval of the May bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #6105 - 6124 for payment of the May bills. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: Paul Freeberg rebuild shed, Sarah Koehler addition to house, Steven Russell build small shed

Discussion and possible action pertaining to plan commission: Did not meet

Discussion and possible approval of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church picnic license: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve picnic license for September 8th 2024 for St Johns Catholic Church. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

Discussion and possible to approval of liquor, beer, cigarette, licenses and operator applications: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve liquor licensed for Valley Tavern & Bloomer Rod-n-Gun, cigarette license for Valley Tavern and operator permits for both establishments for upcoming year (July 1, 2024 thru June 30, 2025). Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

Discussion and possible approval of a CSM for James Rogge: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve CSM for James Rogge. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

Chairman’s report: no fire report for the month of May, roads are in good shape, and shouldering was done by County, Dave Michels removed a beaver dam on 1010th Street, LaGesse sand mine washed bad after heavy rains.

 

Recycling report by Rod Thorson – Rod gave a report of expenses and income for January thru May and looks to be fairly even, also gave a report on progress of culvert inspections for the State.

 

Dissemination of Information, Clerks report:  received premium refund of $65 from Rural Mutual, town hall rental for August 11, 2024, Open book completed on May 28th and Board of Review on June 4th, but no residents came to dispute taxes. Local road certification needs to be completed so Clerk will take care of this.               

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of June 10, 2024 regular meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, June bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – July 8, 2024 at 7:00 pm 

 

Adjourn:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to adjourn at 7:21 pm. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
