REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING
Monday March 9th, 2026
Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on March 9th, 2026 at 7:00 pm. The supervisors present
were Matt Borofka and Kale Clements. Other officers present: Erica Ullom-clerk and Jan Thorson–treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.
Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the March 9th, 2026 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on March 4th, 2026.
Public Comment: no public comment
Discussion and possible action on budget categories- none brought forward, note to Board that funds running low for snowplowing
Discussion and possible action on 2026 bid opening for the 70th Street project-Senn presented their sealed bid of -84.44/ton, approximate tonnage 1,646, total asphalt cost of $138,988.24, shouldering cost per ton $24.41, approximate tonnage 330, total shouldering cost $8055.30-total cost $147,043.54; Monarch presented their sealed bid of-88.78/ton, approximate tonnage1,657, total asphalt cost $147,108.46, shouldering cost per ton $22.75, approximate tonnage 307, total shouldering cost $6984.25-total cost $154,092.71. Darrel Fehr stated that Senn has the cheaper per ton and that is the biggest variable. Darrel Fehr made a motion to accept Senn’s bid, seconded by Matt Borofka motion carries 3-0.
Approval of the February 12th 2026 board meeting minutes; Matt Borofka approved, seconded by Kale Clements motion carried 3-0.
Reading by Treasurer of January financial report-Ending balance on February 28th, 2026 of $113,361.18 and total cash on hand $220,031.04. Security Bank loan balance as of February 28th, 2026 is $50,601.07.
Reading and approval of the February bills-checks 6591-6611 with checks 6591-6594 VOIDED for misprint-Darrel Fehr approved, seconded by Kale Clements motion carried 3-0.
Building/driveway permits-none
Discussion and possible action on approval of two planning commission members for a 3 year term-Aaron Sarauer, Scott Culver-Darrel Fehr approved, seconded by Kale Clements motion carried 3-0.
Discussion and possible action on assessor salary and looking into different assessor-Darrel Fehr stated that there is a substantial proposed increase of $1,100 with our current assessor. Darrel Fehr talked to Prochnow Assessing and he is cheaper and has suggested to table for now.
Discussion and possible action on ditch clean up-Eagle Point ATV club has agreed to clean up-Darrel Fehr made a motion to join in on the Chippewa County Road Ditch clean up; seconded by Kale Clements motion carried 3-0.
Discussion and possible action pertaining to plan commission-did not meet
Chairman’s report-fire report- no fires to Darrel Fehr’s knowlwdge, road ban signs went up today 3/9, a few pot holes and signs down but all in all decent shape-Darrel Fehr & Kale Clements went to the District Meeting on Saturday March 7th.
Recycling report by Rod Thorson- Jan/Feb all the workers were filled-they have a schedule, swapped out a couple of bins and some are getting full, moved some of the dumpsters so that draining is better.
Dissemination of Information- clerk’s report-Election is coming up on 4/7, we got a new printer for the townhall and Shakal’s have had some land deemed forest land.
Future items and business-election April 7th, next meeting April 13, annual meeting Tuesday April 21st, discussion on banking.
