Town of Cooks Valley 

REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING

MONDAY May 12, 2025

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on May 12th, 2025 at 7:00 pm. The supervisors present 

was Kale Clements. Other officers present: Erica Ullom-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

 

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the May 12th, 2025 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on April 10, 2025.

 

Public Comment: It was noted that there is a hole in the road at the corner of 186th and 60th and that there is washout by Paul Sarauer’s.   Darrel Fehr will be checking on it. 

 

Discussion and possible action on budget categories-none

 

Approval of the April 14 board meeting minutes-Darrel Fehr approved, seconded by Kale Clements motion carried 2-0.  

 

Reading by Treasurer of April financial report-Ending balance on April 30th, 2025 of $193,665.44 and total cash on hand $289,148.98. Security Bank loan balance as of April 30th, 2025 is $83,326.43 

 

Reading and approval of the April bills Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #6365 - 6382 for payment of the April bills, seconded by Kale Clements; motion carried 2-0.  Check #6370 was voided; it was printed for the wrong amount.  

 

Building/driveway permits-Missy Turner-rebuild after fire

Discussion and possible action pertaining to plan commission-did not meet

 

Discussion and possible action on raising wage to $15 for Election workers, road maintenance, recycling (hourly) and Deputy Clerk-discussion was that wages were recently raised.  Recycling workers are a set wage per shift, so the one shift would be loosing some and one would be increased.  Darrel Fehr made a motion to increase all non elected workers wages to $15/hour. Seconded by Kale Clements; motion carried 2-0.     

 

Discussion and possible action on ditch mowing contract-Darrel Fehr made a motion to hire JJ’s Brush Cutting Services LLC for $75/hour.  Seconded by Kale Clements; motion carried 2-0.   

 

Discussion and possible action on ordering T15 base 1 from Team Labs-Darrel Fehr made a motion to contract with Team Labs for T15 Base 1 for a total of $12, 936.00 plus any applicable taxes. Seconded by Kale Clements; motion carried 2-0.   

 

Chairman’s report-fire report-Mine Roads-road review will be on Thursday May 15th at 8am.

 

Recycling report by Rod Thorson-Rod gave an updated report and schedule.   

 

Dissemination of Information- clerk’s report-assessor was out on 5/7/25 and we are waiting on dates for Open Book and Board of Review, Erica has completed 3 of the 6 hours of training from the state and the ATV club picked up the ditches.    

 

Future items and business-next meeting date is Monday June 9th, 2025
