Regular Town Board Meeting

November 11, 2024

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on November 11, 2024 at 7:00 pm. The supervisor present 

was Kale Clements. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the November 11, 2024 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on November 8, 2024.

 

Public Comment: None

Discussion and possible action on budget categories:   budgeted $6000 for I-120 Insurance and spent $6256, U-133 Telephone budgeted $700 spent $702.68, U-134 Electric budgeted $1000 and spent $1008.83. Darrel Fehr made a motion to add $1400 to I-120, $100 to U-133 and $100 to U-134 from Contingency Fund. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

Approval of the October 10, 2024 board meeting minutes and October 22 Budget planning minutes – Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve minutes for October 10, 2024 board meeting minutes and October 22nd Budget planning minutes.  Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

Reading by Treasurer of October financial report: Ending balance on October 31, 2024 of $223,358.63 and total cash on hand $318,178.56. Security Bank loan balance as of October 31, 2024 $94,076.74

 

Reading and Approval of the September bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #6207 - 6240 for payment of the October bills. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: Luke Borofka to build shed

 

Discussion and possible action pertaining to plan commission- did not meet

Chairman’s report: no fires in township, 2 auto accidents on Hwy 40, no change in mines

 

Recycling report by Rod Thorson – Darrel Fehr gave update on activity at recycling center and persons to cover shift for November and December. Full swap on demo dumpster, Rod finished culvert project and sent to State.

 

Dissemination of Information, Clerks report:  Election went very well, had 89% vote. WEC pulled Cooks Valley for another audit on our voting equipment so will be doing this at Chippewa Courthouse. They reimburse township at 35 cents/per ballot and we had 471 vote. Working on millrate worksheet for 2025 taxes, publishing election candidates for spring 2025 in Bloomer Advance end of November, Jean Schindler has worked several years as election worker but is retiring after this last election, thanks to her for serving.      

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of November 11, 2024 regular meeting and November 11 special Board meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, November bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission, and Discussion on increase of salary for Board, Treasurer & Clerk

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – December 9, 2024 at 7:00 pm with Christmas party to follow

 

Adjourn:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to adjourn at 7:20 pm. Kale Clements seconded the motion. Motion carried 2-0.
