Regular Town Board Meeting

October 10, 2024

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on October 10, 2024 at 7:00 pm. The supervisor present 

was Kale Clements. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the October 10, 2024 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on October 7, 2024.

 

Public Comment: None

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: None

Approval of the September 9, 2024 board meeting minutes  – Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve minutes for September 9, 2024 board meeting minutes.  Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

Reading by Treasurer of September financial report: Ending balance on September 30, 2024 of $207,922.89 and total cash       on hand $302,629.64. Security Bank loan balance as of September 30, 2024 $95,561.01 

 

Reading and Approval of the September bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #6186 - 6206 for payment of the September bills. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: none

Discussion and possible action pertaining to plan commission- did not meet

Discussion and possible action on Chippewa County Unit meeting for Emergency  Management plan – will have to postpone until later date.

Discussion and possible approval of CSM for James Rogge – Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve CSM for addition to Lot 4 for James Rogge. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

Discussion and possible action to approve Chippewa County Humane contract – Darrel Fehr made a motion to accept the contract with Chippewa County Humane. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

Chairman’s report: no fires in township, accident on Hwy 40 with tractor and vehicle, Darrel and Kale attended the Fire & Ambulance meeting on September 30. City of Bloomer decided to buy new ambulance and also purchased a generator with no cost to townships, was projected that in 7-8 years Bloomer fire department will need new fire truck at cost of $150,000 for Cooks Valley townships share.

 

Recycling report by Rod Thorson – Rod gave the work schedule for October, November and December, Rod gave a detailed report on current expenses versus income and he feels we are at a good level of charges on fees at recycling and the $3.00 for garbage. Smaller dumpster for metals is about 80% full.

 

Dissemination of Information, Clerks report:  General election will be held November 5th and will have cookies for voters, 2 poll workers attending training October 14 at Chippewa courthouse 8:30-11:30, fire extinguishers checked, final estimate for population of township is 758 with approximately 545 of voting age, need to set date to work on budget (date set for October 22 at 4:00 pm), KerberRose changing to Sprinter IT (partner with KerberRose) Shared revenue estimate for November 2024 payment is $70,189.91, General transportation aid estimate for 2025 is $98,834.10       

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of October 10, 2024 regular meeting and October 22 meeting to work on budget approved, Treasurers financial report, October bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – November 11, 2024 at 7:00 pm with budget meeting and town electors meeting to follow immediately after town board meeting

 

Adjourn:  Kale Clements made a motion to adjourn at 7:26 pm. Darrel Fehr seconded the motion. Motion carried 2-0.
