Regular Town Board Meeting

September 11, 2023

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on September 11, 2023 at 7:00 pm. The supervisors present 

were Matt Borofka and Kale Clements. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the September 11, 2023 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on September 5, 2023.

 

Public Comment: None

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: Darrel Fehr made a motion to move $3000 to Recycling from the Contingency Fund. Leaving a balance in Contingency Fund of $5000. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

Approval of the August 14, 2023 Town Board meeting minutes – Matt Borofka made a motion to approve minutes for August 14 Town board meeting. Kale Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

Reading by Treasurer of August financial report: Ending balance on August 31, 2023 of $136,946.86 and total cash on hand $231,102.99

Reading and Approval of the August bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #5912 - 5925 for payment of the August bills. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: Dean Rosenbrook for new shed, Don Naset for garage addition

Discussion and possible action relating to the plan commission: Did not meet

Chairman’s report: – Fire Dept./Roads: roads in good shape, drove back to EOG mine and everything looks great, back in the LaGesse mine and things are looking good there too. No fires

 

Recycling report by Rod Thorson – detailed report on income and expense at recycling center, looks like the income is close to the expense within $50.

 

Dissemination of Information- clerk’s report:   Chippewa County Humane contract due but need to change population from 840 to 759, Chippewa county Clerk will provide 3 hrs of training to poll workers October 11 & 16 with lunch following, Vicki will provide the other 3 hours that Chief inspectors need before end of 2023 for the upcoming 2 year term 2024-2025, fire inspector was here on August 23                                                                                                                

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of September 11, 2023 regular meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, September bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission, approval of Chippewa County Humane contract

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – October 9, 2023 at 7:00 pm

 

Adjourn:  Matt Borofka made a motion to adjourn at 7:20 pm. Kale Clements seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
