Regular Town Board Meeting

February 12, 2024

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on February 12, 2024 at 7:00 pm. The supervisor present 

was Matt Borofka. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the February 12, 2024 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on February 7, 2024.

 

Public Comment: None

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: None

Approval of the January 8, 2024 regular board meeting minutes  – Matt Borofka made a motion to approve minutes for January 8 Town board meeting. Darrel Fehr seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

Reading by Treasurer of January financial report: Ending balance on January 31, 2024 of $103,674.68 and total cash 

on hand $198,386.65.

Reading and Approval of the January bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #6020 - 6044 for payment of the January bills. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: none

Discussion and possible action relating to the plan commission: Did not meet

Discussion and possible approval of 2024 Road ditch clean up project: Darrel Fehr made a motion to send letter of intent to Chippewa county to participate in 2024 Road ditch clean up project and have ATV club do the job for $800. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

Discussion and possible action on attending Board of Review training March 2: Darrel Fehr made a motion for Board members and Clerk to attend March 2, 2024 WTA spring meeting in Eau Claire. Matt Borofka seconded motion. The motion carried 2-0.

Discussion and possible action on EOG road use and bond agreement: Darrel Fehr made a motion to release EOG from the $100,000.00 bond (#SUR0028007) for road use. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0.

 

Discussion and possible action on hiring for ditch mowing: John Clements has interest in the job and also J&J mowing so this item will be moved to March agenda for discussion and approval.

 

Chairman’s report: Darrel Fehr will contact J&J mowing to do $5000 ditch brush mowing for township, roads are in good shape, LaGesse mine looks good and getting close to finishing up, 3 ponds left that are internally drained, received letter on Buchner mine from lawyer

 

Recycling report by Rod Thorson – Mark Clements came and compacted garbage and recycling bins, also loaded metal appliances into metal recycling container, lots of demo material taken in over last month

 

Dissemination of Information- clerk’s report: training on voting equipment March 18, 2024 in Chippewa, $33 return of premium from Rural Mutual (removed voting equipment), letter sent to Grant township regarding reimbursement for road snowplowing last year but received no answer yet, 2023 interest paid on bank loan of $4192.09 and $20,807.91 on principal                                                                        

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of February 12, 2024 regular meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, February bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission, discussion on bids for ditch mowing, discussion on culvert inventory mandates by State

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – March 11, 2024 at 7:00 pm 

 

Adjourn:  Matt Borofka made a motion to adjourn at 7:29 pm. Darrel Fehr seconded the motion. Motion carried 2-0.
