Regular Town Board Meeting

August 10, 2020

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on August 10, 2020 at 7:30 pm. The supervisors present
were David Clements and Matthew Borofka. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Judith Prince –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.
Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the August 10, 2020 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on August 5, 2020
Public Comment: Jim Lueck proposed higher wages for poll workers due to pandemic.  Darrel Fehr told those present that this was being discussed by the Board for the upcoming November election.
Discussion and possible action on budget categories: NONE
Approval of the July 13, 2020 regular town board meeting minutes and July 27 special meeting minutes – Matt Borofka made a motion to approve July 13th & July 27th meeting minutes.  David Clements seconded the motion. The
motion carried 3-0. 
Reading by Treasurer of July financial report: Ending balance on July 31st of  $176,904.04 and total cash on hand
$347,339.79.                             
Reading and Approval of the July bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers #5167 - 5182 for payment of the June bills.  Matt Borofka seconded the motion . The motion carried 3-0.

Building/driveway permits: Luke Buchner to build addition to existing home & garage, driveway permit for Linda McClusky
Discussion and possible action relating to the plan commission: none
Discussion and possible action on closing cost for purchase of land for town hall – Darrel Fehr talked to Jay Zwiefelhofer and he suggested we split the cost of surveying and processing land title, approx $1000 cost for township. Darrel Fehr made a motion to share cost. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

  1. Discussion and approval of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church picnic license – David Clements made a motion to approve license. Darrel Fehr seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

Discussion and possible approval of CSM for Linda McKluskey – (5 acres) corner of Cty Rd C and 55th ST – Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve CSM for Linda McKluskey. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.                                                                          
Chairman’s report: – Fire Dept./Roads –  Bloomer Equestrian club cleaned out the aluminum cans, County will start to pave 150th this week. Darrel filled in washed out culvert and patched roads. Chippewa sand ponds overflowing so meeting at county courthouse (enforcement order conference)about pumping it back into mine. Toured mine and everything looks good. Land conservation working with mine company on pond water issue. Not sure what the future holds. LaGesse mine plans to start reclamation this fall.
Dissemination of Information- clerk’s report: 2020 Recycling grant paid to township in the amount of $1491.70 Partisan election to be held tomorrow August 11, 2020 from 7am to 8pm.
Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of August 10, 2020 regular meeting, Treasurers financial report, August bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission. Discussion on Purfrac road agreement with EOG.

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – September 14, 2020 at 7:30 pm
Adjourn:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to adjourn at 7:58 pm.  David Clements seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
