Regular Town Board Meeting

August 13, 2018

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on August 13, 2018 at 7:30 pm.  The supervisor present was
 Matt Borofka.  Other officers present were: Victoria Trinko-clerk and Judith A. Prince-treasurer.
Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.
Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the August 13, 2018 town board meeting was duly posted on August 9, 2018 in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley.
Public Comment:  Calvin Swartz informed the board of the need to raise the price of recycling TV’s at the Recycling Center as the town is billed more for the pickup of TV’s than the Town of Cooks Valley is charging for recycling.  Also Calvin suggested raising the price of the garbage bags to $2.00.  These concerns will be placed on the September town board agenda.
Discussion and possible action on budget categories:  no action taken
Approval of the minutes for the July 9, 2018 regular monthly town board meeting:  Matt Borofka made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 9, 2018 regular monthly town board meeting,   Darrel Fehr seconded the motion.  The motion carried 2-0.
Reading by Treasurer of July financial report:  The ending balance as of July 31, 2018 was $125,567.53 with the total assets-$280,972.51.  Check #3194 Calvin Swartz-agent for Bloomer Rod & Gun Club for beer license Check #56701 from the Bloomer Fire Dept. for $358.69 for fire suppression Adam Johnson.  The August tax settlement of $43,351.37 will be direct deposited into the Town of Cooks Valley checking account on August 20, 2018.  Judith Prince-treasurer, will set up an account named Frontier Sands 186th Maintenance Fund.
Reading and Approval of the July bills:  Matt Borofka made a motion to approve the check vouchers #4662-#4882 for payment of the July bills.  Darrel Fehr seconded the motion.  The motion carried 2-0.
Building permits:  Dave Michels-addition to existing pole shed, Brian Russell- shed with living quarters and driveway permit.
Discussion and possible action of pertaining to the plan commission:  No action taken.
Chairman’s report: – Fire Dept.  There were no reported fires in the months of June and July in the Town of Cooks Valley.  Carol Paulson will be cutting trees on MFL lands.  The Chippewa County Highway Dept. will be inspecting the bridges in the Town of Cooks Valley.  David LaGesse contacted Chairman Darrel Fehr offering to add dirt in the ditch at the intersection of 40th Street and County Highway A so he can mow and keep weeds down at the intersection.  The fill is not meant to impede the water flow down the ditch and through the adjoining driveway culvert. Mine Roads-Frontier Sands is mining and hauling making slow progress.  Supervisor Matt Borofka expressed concerns about the Monarch Paving’s result in connecting of town roads 65th Street and 160th Avenue intersection.  Chairman Darrel Fehr will inspect the intersection.
Dissemination of Information –Clerk’s report: Brochure of Fall WTA workshops; letter from Recycling Dept. concerning signage; reminder of Fall Partisan Primary tomorrow.

Pledge of allegiance, Discussion and possible action on budget categories, minutes of the August 13, 2018 regular meeting, treasurer’s financial report, August bills, Building permits, on concerns pertaining to the Plan commission, chairman’s report, dissemination of information-clerk’s report  
The next meeting will be September 10, 2018 at 7:30 pm.
Adjourn:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to adjourn at 7:52 pm.   Darrel Fehr seconded the motion.  The motion carried 2-0.
