Regular Town Board Meeting

July 12, 2010

Supervisor David Clements called the meeting to order on June 14, 2010 at 8:00 pm due to Chairman Ron Fanetti having surgery. The supervisor present was: Gary Yakesh.  Other officers present were:  Victoria Trinko-Clerk and Eunice Steinmetz-treasurer. See attached list for delegation present.
PUBLIC COMMENT:  Since our Chapter 19 Non-Metallic Mining Ordinance was orally ruled invalid on July 6, 2010, leaving the Town of Cooks Valley with no regulations or authority to set provisions in the mining process, and thanks to Bill Reynolds, the County Board, the DNR,  or state of Wisconsin having no regulations the Town of Cooks Valley is vulnerable to any mining operations; therefore,  I, Vicky Trinko, town clerk, am recommending that residents who are not planning to do mining in the Town of Cooks Valley have their water and wells tested and bring the results to be recorded in the Town of Cooks Valley monthly minutes as a precaution for possible water contamination in the future.
Gary Yakesh made a motion to approve and place on file the minutes of June 14, 2010 regular town board meeting. David Clements seconded the motion.  The motion carried 2-0. 
Gary Yakesh made a motion to approve the July financial report.  David Clements seconded the motion.  The motion carried 2-0.  There was discussion about the mowing bill.  There will be one more mowing with a large mower with a brushing attachment and mowing up to the pavement.
Gary Yakesh made a motion to approve the June bills.  David Clements seconded the motion.  The motion carried 2-0.  
Discussion and possible action on budget categories:  No action was taken.
Composition of Shouldering Bids:  The town clerk will send the estimates of shouldering submitted by the Chippewa County Highway Dept. with their estimates on blacktopping to Supervisor David Clements who will be talking with the Highway Dept. on Tuesday. 
Discussion and possible action on building permit refusal-Marie Anderson:  The Town Clerk will contact Glenn Stoddard about Marie Anderson’s lawyer contacting him and how to proceed with this matter.
