Regular Town Board Meeting

July 9, 2018


Supervisor Matthew Borofka called the meeting to order on July 9, 2018 at 7:32 pm.  The supervisors present were
 David Clements and Matt Borofka.  Other officers present were: Victoria Trinko-clerk and Judith A. Prince-treasurer 7:50 pm.
Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.
Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the July 9, 2018 town board meeting was duly posted on July 6, 2018 in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley.
Public Comment:  There was no public comment
Discussion and possible action on budget categories:  no action taken
Approval of the minutes for the June 11, 2018 regular monthly town board meeting, June 20, 2018 special meeting-execution of contract, and June 20, 2018-special Joint meeting of the plan commission and town board:  David Clements made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 11, 2018 regular monthly town board meeting, June 20, 2018 special meeting-execution of contract, and June 20, 2018-special Joint meeting of the plan commission and town board.   Matthew Borofka seconded the motion.  The motion carried 2-0.
Reading by Treasurer of May financial report:  The ending balance as of June 30, 2018 was $97,441.02 with the total assets-$252,720.71.  Check #5150 Ms. Fitz Hideout for beer, liquor, operators license and Check #1127 Valley Tavern for beer, liquor, and operators licenses were given to the treasurer for deposit.  The treasurer reported the second payment of $21,602.53 Transportation Aids was direct deposited on July 2, 2018 and will be reflected on the July bank statement.
Reading and Approval of the June bills:  David Clements made a motion to approve the check vouchers #4643-#4661 for payment of the June bills.  Matt Borofka seconded the motion.  The motion carried 2-0.
Building permits:  Jerome Thomley-house with basement, Isaac Schindler-precast cement bunker walls.
Discussion and possible action pertaining to the plan commission:  no action was needed
Discussion and possible approval of payment to the ATV Club for ditch cleaning:  The treasurer received the $500.00 County grant money for the ditch cleaning project.  David Clements made a motion to pay the Eagleton ATV Club $800.00 for ditch cleaning using the $500.00 grant money and $300.00 from the Town of Cooks Valley.  Matt Borofka seconded the motion.  The motion carried 2-0.
Discussion and possible approval of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church picnic license application:  The church sent an application and check#6142 for a picnic license.  David Clements made a motion to approve the picnic license application from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  Matt Borofka seconded the motion.  The motion carried 2-0.
Chairman’s report: – Fire Dept.  no report available Mine Roads-David Clements accompanied Dave Janke of Monarch Paving on a tour of the road projects [wedging and paving] being completed on the Town of Cooks Valley roads.
Dissemination of Information –Clerk’s report: A letter from the Recycling Dept of Chippewa County indicated $1497.95 recycling grant will be received for 2018 to the Town of Cooks Valley.  The chief inspectors and clerk will attend an election training session on July 26, 2018 for hands on training which will apply to hours for recertification.

Pledge of allegiance, Discussion and possible action on budget categories, minutes of the July 9, 2018 regular meeting,Building permits, on concerns pertaining to the Plan commission.
The next meeting will be August 13, 2018 at 7:30 pm.
The Partisan Election will be August 14, 2018.
Adjourn:  Matt Borofka made a motion to adjourn at 8:06 pm.   David Clements seconded the motion.  The motion carried 2-0.
