Regular Town Board Meeting

June 14, 2021

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on June 14, 2021 at 7:00 pm. The supervisors present 

were Matthew Borofka and David Clements. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the June 14, 2021 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on June 9, 2021

 

Public Comment: None

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: None 

Approval of the May 10, 2021 regular town board meeting minutes and May 18 Special Road bid meeting  – Matt Borofka made a motion to approve both May meeting minutes.  David Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.   

Reading by Treasurer of May financial report: Ending balance on May 31, 2021 of $163,679.29 and total cash on               

hand  $356,680.02                     

                                                   

Reading and Approval of the May bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #5369 - 5387 for payment of the May bills. Darrel Fehr made a motion to hold check #5385 to Monarch Paving until shouldering is done according to bid. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: Cole Bergeson to build a shed, Jeff Ballentine build a shed

 

Discussion and possible action relating to the plan commission: None                                                     

 

Discussion and possible approval of liquor, beer, cigarette, and operators applications – David Clements made a motion to approve both licenses for Bloomer Rod & Gun and Valley Tavern. Made a motion to approve operator permits for both establishments. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0 

Discussion and possible approval of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church picnic license – David Clements made a motion to approve picnic license for St. John Church. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0

Discussion and action on approval of County bridge petition – Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve Chippewa County Bridge work for culvert on 10th Street for $3200, and to hire David Michels to put 2 culverts on 170th Ave at a cost of $5000. David Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0

Discussion and possible action to revise Fire Ordinance #10 – Darrel Fehr made a motion to change fee from $500 to $2500 per call and to post both Ordinance #10 and #23 to amend fee. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0                                                                                                                                        

Chairman’s report: – Fire Dept./Roads –  No fires for the month, Mine report - hauling equipment into DS Mine, Buchner (Chippewa Sand) mine still on hold, LaGesse Mine may start hauling equipment next week if minor details worked out. Darrel Fehr patched some roads and put up signs that were down.

 

Dissemination of Information- clerk’s report: Received land rent check ($250) from Jay Zwiefelhofer for 2021, State funds will be distributed to townships through ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) so I will apply for funds before June 18th on the Dept of Revenue website.                                                                                                                                        

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of June 14, 2021 regular meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, June bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission,   revision of Town of Cooks Valley Fees and Forfeitures Ordinance #23

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – July 12, 2021 at 7:00 pm

 

Adjourn:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to adjourn at 7:28 pm.  Matt Borofka seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
