Regular Town Board Meeting

May 10, 2021

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on May 10, 2021 at 7:00 pm. The supervisors present 

were Matthew Borofka and David Clements. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the May 10, 2021 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on May 7, 2021

 

Public Comment: Mark Berge requested that the stop sign on 135th Ave at the intersection of 20th Street be removed. Chairman Darrel Fehr reported that this would not be done until the mine is officially closed for business.

 

Open road bids for Part 2 with discussion/approval – Fahrner Asphalt was the only bidder at $85,046.00. Chairman Darrel Fehr noted that at first bid opening FAHRNER said they could revise their estimate and do bid on crack seal for $78,000.00 and now they bid it at $85,000.00. David Clements made a motion to accept the bid from Fahrner. Darrel Fehr seconded the motion. The motion carried 2-0. Matt Borofka was late to meeting and missed the vote.

Opening and possible acceptance of bids for 1 inch 0verlay and shouldering on Cooks Valley Town Road 155th Ave. First section: East of 40th street to State Highway 40 approximately 1 mile long.

Dave Clements made a motion to give paving/shouldering to Monarch on first section. Darrel Fehr seconded the   motion. The motion carried 3-0                                                                                                                                                                            Bids for 2nd section East of State highway 40 to 60th Street approx. ½ mile in length were rejected because job went over budget.                                                                                     

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: Budget for P-143 First Responders was $500 and expense for 2021 is at $978.48. David Clements made a motion to move $500 from non allocated funds to P-143. Darrel Fehr seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0

Approval of the April 12, 2021 regular town board meeting minutes and April 19 Special Road bid meeting  – Matt    Borofka made a motion to approve both April meeting minutes.  David Clements seconded the motion. The motion   carried 3-0.   

 

Reading by Treasurer of April financial report: Ending balance on April 30, 2021 of  $187,782.34 and total cash on               hand  $380,724.45                     

                                                   

Reading and Approval of the April bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #5350 - 5368 for payment of the April bills. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: Aaron Sarauer for a shed, Doug Zwiefelhofer commodity shed, Jason Stenner 2 car garage

 

Discussion and possible action relating to the plan commission: None                                                              

Chairman’s report: – Fire Dept./Roads –  Fire report for March, no fires in township and No fire report for April

 

Dissemination of Information- clerk’s report: Sent out liquor license renewals, received check from Northern metal for $296.50/5930 lbs frag, Board of Review will be held within the next month 

 

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of May 10, 2021 regular meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, May bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission, update fire ordinance from $500 to $2500, Cemetery meeting to follow regular town board meeting

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – June 14, 2021 at 7:00 pm

 

Adjourn:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to adjourn at 7:49 pm.  Matt Borofka seconded the motion. Motion carried 2-0.
