Regular Town Board Meeting

May 12, 2014

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on May 12, 2014 at 8:00 pm.   The supervisors present were
John Sykora and David Clements.   Other officers present were:  Victoria Trinko-Clerk and Judith A. Prince-treasurer.  See the attached list for delegation present.
Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the May town board meeting was duly posted on May 4, 2014 in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley. 
Public Comment:  Chairman Darrel Fehr informed the delegation of the action at the special meeting earlier on May 12th to have a two year air monitoring program in the Town of Cooks Valley conducted by Dr. Crispin Pierce and Dr. James Boulter.  A possible site for the monitoring station would be the northeast corner of John Sykora’s shed.
Discussion and possible action on budget categories:  No action was needed for this item
Approval of the April 14, 2014 regular monthly town board meeting minutes and March 25, March 31, and April 8, 2014 special meeting minutes:  David Clements made a motion to approve and place on file the April 14, 2014 regular monthly town board meeting minutes and March 25, March 31, and April 8, 2014 special meeting minutes.  John Sykora seconded the motion.  The motion carried 3-0. 
Reading by the Treasurer of the April financial report:  The ending check book balance was $137,633.72 as of April 30, 2014.  The total cash assets for the Town of Cooks Valley were $353,441.73.   There were no outstanding checks.
Reading and approval of the April bills:  John Sykora made a motion to approve the April bills.  David Clements seconded the motion.  The motion carried 3-0.   
Building permits:  John Clements-reroofing.  Discussion of pole shed construction with a possible request for a variance.
Discussion of concerns pertaining to the plan commission: No action was taken.
Chairman’s report –Fire Dept-Jean Calkins-ambulance assistance There will be a controlled burn of a barn on property owned by Darrel Fehr on Monday May 19th.  Mine Road: Bids for 186th project will be out next week.  The opening of the bids will be Friday June 6, 2014 at 10:00 am at a special town board meeting.  The awarding of the bid will be at the June 9, 2014 regular town board meeting.   The trees have been cleared and a mud hole dug out and filled on 50th Street.  The road evaluation committee examined 135th Avenue.  Dan Fedderly felt the cracks are a result of settling in the top layers but continued surveillance is recommended.

Adjourn:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to adjourn at 8:29 pm.  David Clements seconded the motion.  The motion carried 3-0.
