Regular Town Board Meeting

May 9, 2016

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on May 9, 2016 at 7:30 pm.   The supervisors present were David Clements and Matt Borofka.   Other officers present were: Victoria Trinko-clerk and Judith A. Prince-treasurer.    See attached attendance sheet.
 Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.
Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the May town board meeting was duly posted on May 5, 2016 in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley. 
Public Comment:  Victoria Trinko reported calling Chris Wilger of the DNR and Dr. Crispin Pierce on May 3, 2016 at 4:19 pm about the dusting blowing off all the sand piles at Chippewa Sands.
Discussion and possible action on budget categories:  no action needed
Approval of the April 11, 2016 regular monthly town board meeting minutes:  David Clements made a motion to approve and place on file the April 11, 2016 regular monthly town board meeting minutes.   Matt Borofka seconded the motion.  The motion carried 3-0. 
Reading by the Treasurer of the April financial report:  The ending check book balance was $169,984.69 as of April 30, 2016.  The total cash assets for the Town of Cooks Valley were $336,484.76.   Checks and cash were given to the treasurer for driveway & building permits and operators license.
Reading and approval of the April bills:  David Clements made a motion to approve payment of the April bills.  Matthew Borofka seconded the motion.  The motion carried 3-0.  
Building permits:  Melissa Nyhus, building permit-Joe Yakesh-pole shed, William Swartz-garage, reroof storage building, steel on granary, patio & kitchen completion, John Clements-shed
Discussion and possible action pertaining to the plan commission:  no action taken.
Discussion and possible on ditch mowing for 2016:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve the contract with Dave Huse for ditch mowing in 2016 for the same price as in 2015.  David Clements seconded the motion.  The motion carried 3-0. 
Chairman’s report: – Fire Dept. ambulance assistance on State Highway 40.  Mine Roads-all road projects are complete and up to date.   Preferred Sands is hauling out from a smaller pile of sand.  The recycling report stated Cooks Valley averaged 44.9 lbs. per person.  The ditch clean up has been completed by the two clubs.  The chairman will haul tires to Cornell this week. 
Dissemination of Information-Clerk’s report:  Minutes of the semi-annual fire/Ambulance meeting, distribution of Board of Review Training materials, report of a missing street sign at the intersection of 46th Street and 155th Avenue. 
Future agenda items and business:
Pledge of allegiance, Discussion and possible action on budget categories, Building permits, on concerns pertaining to the Plan commission, special meeting minutes of April 14, 2016, appointments to the plan commission, Chairman’s report, Dissemination of information, future agenda items and business.   Next regular board meeting will be June 13, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.  Cemetery meeting on June 13, 2016 following the regular town board meeting.  Board of Review on May 23, 2016. 
Adjourn:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to adjourn at 8:04 pm.  David Clements seconded the motion.  The motion carried 3-0.
