Regular Town Board Meeting

May 9, 2022

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on May 9, 2022 at 7:00 pm. The supervisors present 

were David Clements and Matt Borofka. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the May 9, 2022 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on May 5, 2022.

Public Comment: None 

 

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: None

Approval of the April 11, 2022 regular town board meeting minutes & May 3 special meeting minutes for road bid  –  David Clements made a motion to approve April 11 and May 3, 2022 meeting minutes.  Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

Reading by Treasurer of April financial report: Ending balance on April 30, 2022 of  $197,446.46 and total                              cash on hand $$434,204.01.

                                                   

Reading and Approval of the April bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #5590 - 5604 for payment of the April bills. David Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: Rhonda Cantrall – chicken coop, Jason Benson – solar array, Joe Yakesh – tear down old house and garage and rebuild, Tom Thon – run in barn, Nick Clements – pole shed, Matt Rubenzer pole shed

 

Discussion and possible action pertaining to plan commission – did not meet

Discussion and possible action on ambulance service buying or leasing extra building space from City of Bloomer – City of Bloomer wants $1500/mo rent. Darrel Fehr made a motion that Board is not in favor of renting at $1500/mo. Will wait for more info on cost of buying building. David Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0

 

Discussion and possible action on securing loan for new Town hall before interest rates go up – Darrel Fehr made a motion to secure loan at Security Bank for $200,000 to lock in interest rate. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0

 

Discussion and update on plans for new Town Hall – nothing to report, still working on plans and waiting for contractors to respond. 

 

Chairman’s report-fire report-Mine Roads–  HWY Q grass fire, accepted bid from Monarch to do 170th Ave

 

Dissemination of Information-  received check from Northern Metal for4600 LB frag feed $345.00, Personal property aid $28.18 paid in May, 2 poll workers working to get certified as Chief Inspectors, information sent by Bloomer Fire Dept on Township share of cost if new equipment is purchased, still contracted with GFL until June 1, 2022 for waste and recycling

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of May 9, 2022 regular meeting & May 19th meeting, Treasurers financial report, May bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission, discussion and approval of 2 business liquor licenses & tobacco license

                       

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – June 13, 2022 at 7:00 pm with Cemetery Meeting to follow

 

Adjourn:  David Clements made a motion to adjourn at 7:12 pm. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
