Regular Town Board Meeting

October 11 2021

 

Chairman Darrel Fehr called the meeting to order on October 11, 2021 at 7:13 pm. The supervisors present 

were David Clements and Matt Borofka. Other officers present: Vicki Freeberg-clerk and Jan Thorson –treasurer.

Recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by delegation present.

Certification of proper posting for the scheduled town board meeting: The notice for the October 11, 2021 board meeting was duly posted in the 3 designated places within the Town of Cooks Valley on October 8, 2021.

 

Public Comment: None

Discussion and possible action on budget categories: None 

Approval of the September 13, 2021 regular town board meeting minutes   – David Clements made a motion to approve September meeting minutes.  Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0. 

 

Reading by Treasurer of September financial report: Ending balance on September 30, 2021 of  $118,815.45 and total 

cash on hand  $355,895.44        

                                                   

Reading and Approval of the September bills: Darrel Fehr made a motion to approve check vouchers  #5435 - 5446 for payment of the September bills. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0.

 

Building/driveway permits: NONE

Discussion and possible action relating to the plan commission: None                                                     

Discussion and approval of 2022 Recycling Grant application – Darrel Fehr made a motion to accept the 2022 Recycling Grant from Chippewa county. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0

Discussion and possible action to repair wet spots on 20th ST – DF talked to Dave Michels and would cost about $15,000, Darrel Fehr made a motion to put in paper for bids and will discuss and open bids at October 26th Budget meeting. David Clements seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0

Discussion and possible action to put driveway into new Town hall property – Darrel Fehr made a motion to put in a driveway on property for new Town hall and use take off from 20th ST for contruction. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. The motion carried 3-0

Chairman’s report: – Fire Dept./Roads –  Tree fire on HWY 40 (may have been same fire as August report), Darrel received letter from lawyer to go ahead with withdrawl of funds ($797.85) for payment of delinquent personal property tax. All road work for 2021 is done except for crack filling. Fahrner may not get to it this year. Possibly will get some crack filling done but will finish project next spring.  LaGesse mine making slow progress. David Clements gave a report on the meeting he attended September 27 in Bloomer. Discussed selling old City Street Dept building. Changed flat rate for EMT’s and fireman. Very short of help for EMT’s, Fireman and First Responders. Anyone interested please apply.

 

Dissemination of Information- clerk’s report: General Transportation Aids for 2022 is $96,971.77 and Shared Revenue for 2022 is $39,840.27, Chippewa county Unit meeting held on October 26 at Eagle Point 7:00 pm (Darrel will attend)                                                                                                                             

Future agenda items and business: Pledge of Allegiance, discussion and possible action on: Budget categories,  minutes of October 11, 2021 regular meeting and October 26, 2021 Budget meeting approved, Treasurers financial report, October bills, building permits, concerns pertaining to the Plan Commission                                                                            

 

The next regular town meeting is scheduled for – November 15, 2021 at 7:00 pm (3rd Monday due to Budget meeting and Electors meeting to follow), Budget meeting scheduled for October 26 at 9:00 am, bids to be opened at Budget meeting for road work on 20th ST.

 

Adjourn:  Darrel Fehr made a motion to adjourn at 7:49 pm. Matt Borofka seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
